My question is how did realtors get a bad name? Who was that guy, or girl that really set a bad taste in people that they can't trust us. We are just people all the same with one goal in mind right? Isn't it to make money for our families to survive? Time and time again people look at us as some type of leeches or pesty annoyances that should be shunned out of existence. But the truth is, the market needs us. We make the job easier for people to buy and sell homes, or secure investments for the future. Are we all so greedy that we refuse to help clients unless the "pay day" is an enormous amount. I dont know about everyone else, but if I see a dollar bill on the ground I'm going to pick it up. That goes with real estate too. Even a small transaction that might only put a few hundred in my pocket is worth the couple of phone calls it might take or even a few hours worth of work. Now granted, there are times when you get dragged through the mud and the only thing your left with is a pair of muddy boots, but that shouldn't mean we forget about the smaller deals. I believe if we treat every prospective client as if it will be a million dollar deal people will have all the faith in the world with us. Treat others as if you would be treated is what I always thought was the best way for business. Make the little fish feel like they are the biggest in the pond and relationships will mature to great levels.
My opinion....80 percent of the business done by 20 percent of the agents. We have a large percentage of Realtors who do not have a clue.
Sales people in general have a bad name. Understandably, those who are overly aggressive deserve that to a degree. What I have found is that many clients have an unrealistic impression about the money we are making from their transaction, forgetting to take into account the investment we need to make in our business in order to market their property.
If I see a penny on the ground..I'm picking it up!
JEFF: I agree totally. I mean, how many in our business out there do nothing. I'm not trying to bad mouth any of them, but this is a serious business in which we are trying to succeed. We serve the public and take care of them in something that will maybe be one of the biggest deals in their life. A new home.
Sandi: Only if its a heads up penny! It is true about the impressions. We sell a house for a certain amount and we get a certain amount. Not to mention the hours upon hours of showing the house, advertising the house and countless car rides with clients that go nowhere. Should we be paid more? Some of us should, and some shouldn't. We spend money to make money, everyday.
