When do you QR?

The biggest question we hear from realtors is "When (where or how) should I use QR Codes in my business?"

By its nature, QR Codes are used to provide valuable additional content for people who scan it.  So with that as the basis of WHY you are using QR Codes, let's look at a list of WHERE/HOW to use it and what you should have on the page that the QR Code links to.

Placement

Back of Business Card

Agent specific page w/ contact information

House Flyer

Property specific page w/ property and agent information.

Sign Rider

Property specific page w/ property and agent information

Where have you used a QR Code effectively?  Let's add it to the list for everybody to share.

Nice, concise summary of QR code "best practices."  I'm sure this will be helpful to a lot of agents.

You forgot one on OPEN HOUSE: Great Use for QR CodesEasier data entry increases the likelihood they will show up. The WHEN is most important, if they get that, the WHERE will take care of itself.

Good post though, I'm going to reblog it. Thanks for sharing.

I'm riding the fence on this one Chris.

I think the effectiveness is likely determined by geographic demographics. Tech-minded folks in large metropolitan areas would be likely to use them, but folks in more rural areas unlikely to do so. I think it would depend greatly on your market.

I cannot envision folks leaving their car to scan a sign rider if the web address is posted. And as agents realize how ineffective mailers and print advertising is, these are less likely places to use them.

Mike,

Folks get out of their car to grab property sheets.  Even in the rain.  Everybody has been predicting the demise of the direct mail industry since the launch of the internet.  Surprisingly it still goes strong and people wouldn't be sending mailers if they didn't provide a return.

We are a microwave society.  QR Codes give instant gratification.

You are absolutely right Chris- it is instant gratification-  Direct mail is still strong though and I'm using QR Codes in conjunction with great results.  Let's talk!  Jan

its still widely underused. I think it will be getting more and more in use as we get more smart phones.
