The Governor of the State of Nevada has proclaimed May 21, 2011 "Maclean Observatory Day". Thanks to the generous donation by the Macleans, University of Nevada and Sierra Nevada College in Incline Village Nevada will now have access to the Celestron Telescope which tracks the stars and planets. Talk about awesome views! Lake Tahoe has been a wonderful home for such a treasure, and amazing people have shared this gem!
Astronomy and astrophysics programs will become more available to students, professors and researchers to provide a significant community resource.
Images will be photographed and projected onto large screens so entire classrooms can see the image. Students will be able to access a program which will allow them to see an image from the Celestron Telescope on their individual computer screens.
The last time I saw the telescope, it was at Incline Lake, above Lake Tahoe, close to Sheep Flats, close to Incline Village, close to the Tahoe Rim Trail and really, really close to heaven.
Thank you to the Macleans! You help us reach and see the STARS. Lake Tahoe is right up there, close to heaven!
