Why was this wonderful song ever taken out of the schools in America?

The song “This Land is Your Land” was written by (Woody) Guthrie many years ago, and was sung by children in schools for many-many years. Then all of a sudden it was not allowed to be sung in schools anymore … WHY?

What lame excuse does the United States Government have for not allowing the song “This Land is Your Land” to not be sung in the schools.

I love this song along with many other songs that were taken out of schools many years ago, and I think it’s really SAD!

Shame on the United States Government to allowing these changes … ;o(

Thanks for stopping by, I captured this classic song at Disneyland Adventure Park several days ago and listening to this song brought back great feelings of a wonderful country. Maybe our government doesn't want this song sung in schools because so many of our freedoms and so much more has been taken away from us over the years. And I guess everyone is sleeping around the AR network or we are the only ones that like it ... ;o(

VB, since we have three cats I did not know that this song is "Verboten" I am shocked when and how did this happen??

Hello Endre and I remember singing this song in elementary school, and when the music group in the video above mentioned that the song had been removed from schools many years ago and then played it it really made me wonder!

Last time we went to one of the grand kids' school events, the kids sang this song. Who has removed the song, and from which schools?

Hello Tony and Darcy and yes it is sad!

And Mike, there are several schools across California and other states that don't sing this song anymore, along with other songs that include the name GOD in them!
