EXIT Realty Brokers Embrace Homes for HeroesWhat started in Minnesota is spreading across the US and recently came to Virginia, when Virginia Beach joined the growing number of cities honoring their heroes with the official launch of the local Homes for Heroes program.

Sales Representative, Kathy Durbin of EXIT Realty Consultants, was on-hand for the ribbon cutting ceremony along with Ron Villanueva, Virginia Delegate and Lisa Wynkoop of Atlantic Bay Mortgage.

“Our military, police officers, firefighters, healthcare workers and teachers have chosen careers which require dedication, loyalty and above all, sacrifice. With Homes for Heroes we can give back to those who give so much,” Durbin explained.

Through the far reaching powers of cause marketing and the internet, Homes for Heroes has expanded into a nationwide company with affiliates such as real estate agents, lenders and other real estate related service providers who agree to give significant rebates and discounts to our heroes. The organization has also expanded its discounts beyond the real estate process by creating Friends of Heroes, whereby national and local businesses have teamed up with the program to give back.

EXIT Realty brokers across the country have embraced this worthwhile cause.  “As a military spouse, daughter and sister, I am excited about participating in a program which gives back to those who serve our communities and country”, remarked Bernadette Cole. “EXIT Landmark Realty is honored to bring this program to the Southern Maryland region.”

"We love our EXIT Affiliates. In fact, we found the EXIT model to be a perfect fit for our program," said Helen Johnson, Vice President and Co-Founder of Homes For Heroes.  "In fact, consistently month after month, our top producing affiliate broker is EXIT More Real Estate [in Watertown NY] averaging at least 8 closings a month!"

Shortly following the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the Homes for Heroes Foundation was also created as a way to help injured soldiers who were in need of housing assistance. The Foundation is a 501(c) public charity that provides housing resources and financial assistance with a mission to “fill in the gaps” for heroes who are waiting for other benefits for which they’ve applied.
