Are You Interested in Metuchen Homes?

People who buy Metuchen Homes are attracted by the town’s unique qualities. Metuchen Homes have that small-town feel while still being located in the shadow of the big city. A haven for commuters because of its train station, as well as its close proximity to most major New Jersey highways, Metuchen offers one of the more desirable communities in Central New Jersey.

Because you can get to New York City in less than an hour train ride, the NJ Transit Train Station is a major factor in Metuchen’s popularity. In addition, since Metuchen is in close proximity to the New Jersey Turnpike, Garden State Parkway, Interstate 287, Route 1, and Route 27, commuters find Metuchen’s central location to be a big benefit.

Metuchen’s central downtown area is also a popular draw for residents. With its mixture of restaurants and shops, the downtown adds to Metuchen’s small town feel. Because the town has an area of just 2.7 square miles, the downtown is within walking distance from all parts of Metuchen.

The town was settled in the early 1700s and was officially incorporated in 1900. Supposedly nicknamed the “Brainy Borough” because of the high concentration of intellectually-gifted residents, Metuchen takes its name from a Lenni Lenape Indian chief – Matouchin.

My first memories of Metuchen were over 30 years ago when my family first moved here from New York City. At least one member of my family has lived here since. We first moved to the Jefferson Park Condominiums before building a house to live in on High Street, close to the Metuchen YMCA.
