Just outside of the town, the Potash Corporation
of Saskatchewan is a major employer in a local potash mine. This year it
announced plans for a new
2-million-tonne potash mine and expanded milling operations. The
four-year construction project having an estimated cost of $1.6 billion will
begin once necessary regulatory approvals are obtained.
Only a short distance from Sussex is Eastern New
Brunswick's only ski hill,
Poley Mountain,
which also attracts customers from Moncton and Saint John, each less than an
hour's drive away.
