The Lengendary Shrine El Santuario de Chimayó

Real Estate Broker/Owner with eXp Realty LLC NM Broker License 16161

The Lengendary Shrine El Santuario de Chimayó is quiet now after a Good Friday pilgrimage of thousands who walked or drove or managed to get to this adobe church located in the village of Chimayo in northern New Mexico during this Easter week. People of all faiths who believe in the legend come here for the opportunity to rub the sacred reddish dirt on their body for healing and spiritual renewal. The dirt is free. The miracles happen as witnessed by the walking sticks, canes and crutches left behind. It is truly a special place where many say the heart and soul of northern New Mexico lives, thrives and inspires.

You must visit this place someday.

Emily wouldn't it be nice if all corners of the world had a place where all we would have to do is go rub red dirt on our bodies and we would be healed?  I love places like this!

Emily - thanks for stopping by my last post.  I REMEMBER THIS PLACE.  We (ex-husband and I) were there about twenty years ago on Good Friday.  What a memory.  Thanks for including this.  I love Santa Fe and Taos.  You have a new subscriber.

That was interesting... I think there are several spiritual places in New Mexico. I wonder how long it would take to visit them all! Hope you had a wonderful Easter.

Drick - I think Santa Fe will surprise you, so certainly come visit.

Barbara - Chimayo is an awesome place to see and experience as it is a shine for believers of many faiths.

Gay - You are right about its vibrancy and spiritual energy. It some ways it is like an akiva.

Suzanne, the experience of Chimayo on Good Friday is truly staggering given the pilgrimage in action. Perhaps the memory will bring you for a visit again...

Roseanne, good question! You will have to visit and find out!
