Sometimes you just have to play in the rain...
As I sat here preparing Easter dinner, being so thankful for what a life I have and the amazing people in it, I was thinking about all that I have been through in the last year. Life in general! But the re-activation of my license, test prep, test taking, marriage done, and the loss of both of my parents. I cooked a great dinner waiting for my two boys to come back to me for the week.

Preparing the table, getting everything set, enjoying great company and...................just being an Adult. Sometimes we get so wrapped up in our life, we forget what it is like to be a kid! I had a chance to see Kevin Carrol speak a couple of years ago, and that man is astoundingng. He wrote the book, "Little Red Boucning Ball". That title is an analogy for comparisons of us as adults and us as kids. He talked about at what point in our lives do we loose our ability to enjoy our imagination and forget to have fun? When did playing "Tag" get converted into not wanting to be the "Silly" one in the group?

I was eating dinner, listening to my boys interact with all of the guests at my house, and how much fun they were having! I was then thinking about my sons baseball games last night. How proud I am of him. How much of an amazing young man he is becoming. I sat there watching him, listening to trey and Evan in discussion and being in disbelief. How fast they are growing up. I then watched them and their friends go outside to play some baseball.

The clouds rolled in, the thunder started and then it started raining. All of a sudden I had my "DAD" hat on, and was going to tell them to come inside and get out of the rain. What a "dud" I was thinking. My kids were outside and they came to the door! Hey Dad, it is raining cats and dogs out there.
I then thought back to the day I was 8, camping out in California and it started raining. Raining hard. We asked mom if we could play outside since we were already muddy. "What the hell" was her response. That was one of the memorable days of my life. I looked my boys in the eyes, (I know they were expecting me to haul them inside), and said, "Have fun!

WOW! What an amazing, energizing feeling came over me. Listening to the excitment and enjoyment they were having. My boys and their friends kept talking about how much fun they were having! Oh to be a kid again!

For me, I am going to try and add that silliness and goofiness back into my life. Not take things so serious. Why make life so much more difficult than it has to be! Not going to do it anymore! I want to smile like, Trey, Evan, Jacob, Evan, Lauren and David did. Good to be like a kid again.
Sometimes we as professionals get so wrapped upped on our business goals, getting the next deal, meeting the next "Big" one, striving to make more money, while forgetting to have fun in our great business. That is why I enjoy Active Rain so much, this platform allows me to remember why I do what I do, help educate through my passion and remember what is important to me! Still a kid at heart! A goal to strive for!
