Monday, April 25th @ 6:30 PM (HOT NEW GROUP!)

More and more these days houses are being sold "as is". Sellers and banks are not accepting contracts with the old protection contract clause of "subject to inspection" or "subject to approval of partner". These days contract contingencies are rarely being accepted. To get in the game, you have to be able to make a decision and commit to it. Do you really want to buy the house? And are you so confident that you can comfortably put your earnest money on the line?

Conquer your fears and take the guesswork out of buying houses "as-is". At our next Atlanta REIA West Meeting on Monday, April 25th from 6:30 to 9 PM at the Cherokee Cattle Company at 2710 Canton Road, Marietta, GA (map), long time successful real estate investor, code enforcement and zoning officer, Catherine McFarland, will put your fears. Catherine will show you how you can quickly assess damages and repairs to a house and determine the estimated repair costs.

Tuesday, April 26th @ 6:30 PM (HOT NEW SPECIAL INTEREST GROUP!)

The Note Buyers Group (NBG) is a new Atlanta REIA educational and networking subgroup led by Tom Boyer that is designed to teach real estate investors how to buy and sell the mortgage notes that secure a property rather than buying the property itself. The group's goal is to transact deals within the group and increase our professionalism through education in a changing credit market. The group meets on the 4th Tuesday of each month from 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM at Olive Garden located at 2467 Cobb Parkway SE in Smyrna about 1/2 mile from I-285. If you are a new investor, this is a great opportunity to pick up pointers on what to do and what not to do when investing in notes. Atlanta REIA Members can attend at no charge.

Brewery Tour & Beer Tasting

Immediately following the Haves & Wants Meeting, we will be having a 5 Seasons Brewery Tour and Beer Tasting at 3:30 PM. Kevin, the Brew Master, will be taking us on a tour and show us how they brew their wonderful beers. After the tour, we will be having a beer tasting sampling of five distinctive brews available. Saturday, April 30th, 2011 @ 9 AM

It is starting to warm up again outside and Atlanta REIA and the Fuller Center of Atlanta are cranking back up our Saturday Volunteer Workdays on Project Lakewood. We're looking for volunteers this Saturday and every other Saturday to come out and help us eliminate sub-standard housing for local area residents. We meet at 9:00 AM at 1125 Oak Knoll Terrace SE in Lakewood (Atlanta, GA) and usually work until 3:30 PM. Snacks and beverages are provided and you can bring your own as well. Join us and you will get hands-on experience as we renovate and repair homes for some of Atlanta's neediest families.
