In Minnesota...it is Deer Tick Season

It is that dreaded season again.

Tick Season.

The Deer tick is known for transmitting Lymes disease.  This can be and is a very debilitating illness.   Deer Ticks, unlike Wood ticks burrow into and under the skin.  I had one that had to be cut out.

A woodtick usually only bites and stays in one place.

If you get a Tick bite and you get a large red circle after wards...See your Dr. right away.

Thanks for that. My husband is also an avid hunter, so we are very familiar with these. We have a dog that suffers because of a tick bite. Poor guy. You're right, they're nasty!

Indeed don't mess around with the bulls eye red circle rash!  Over 25 years ago I had that rash and since I lived in a mountain in WVA at that time I just assumed a spider had bit me.  Fortunately soon after I started feeling like I was getting/had the flu and the doctor perscribed antibiotics which probably helped things not be as bad as they could have gotten w/o the drugs.  But, I was one very sick person with things bouncing around from one to another aching and hurting, etc.  I went to numerous different specialists to rule out one thing after another and than there was an article in a magazine showing the bulls eye rash.  Lyme's disease can be hidden by false positives on blood work and doesn't' always show up with the rash from things I've read since.

Anyway, 6 Easters ago I felt something on the back of my neck and sure enough -- a tick!  This time I ended up with Rocky Mountain Spotted fever.  Ticks just love me but I try my hardest to avoid them.

I got one last week I think ...now you got me worried.  I still have a moderate red circle.  Feel normal though.

Bill...

The ticks are really bad here too, and they seem to get worse as our deer population is increasing.

This is a very serious tick to deal with. Additionally you can't see them as they are very small.
