PLEASE don’t make me live in any of these cities!

PLEASE don’t make me live in any of these cities!

While sitting at the Doctors office today with my daughter impatiently waiting for the Doctor, I was flipping through the latest Readers Digest.   There, I found an article with funny town names.  Some of these were quite good and I’ll just list my favorites.  The funny thing is, I’ve been to a couple of these!  It makes you wonder:  WHAT were they thinking?  It's a good conversation piece, for sure!  Think of all the merchandise they could sell to promote their cities...hummm.

Monkey’s Eyebrow, Kentucky (hey, at least they didn't name it after the Monkey's other end)

Pretty Boy, Maryland

Tater Peeler, Tennessee (yep, been there, sure wouldn’t want to live there!)

Bald Head, Maine (know of few who should go there)

Chunky, Mississippi (no could get me in trouble)

Big Bone, Kentucky

Looneyville, Texas  ( comment, lol)

Tightwad, Missouri (been there...they have the Tightwad Bank!)

Eek, Alaska

Chuckle, North Carolina

Jot ‘Em Down, Texas

Ding Dong, Texas

Jolly Dump, South Dakota  (Oh I could have a LOT of fun with this one)

That was my education for the day and thought I”d share.  Oh the things I learn day to day :)

Beth, I know we have a few towns here in Alabama that rank high on the "weird-name-o-meter"....I was ina town in Wisconsin named Slab  city...let me tell you...the only bar in Slab City was a bit like a morgue.

Mom still renews my subscription to Reader's Digest every year for a Christmas gift.  I got a good laugh out of the article.

But they left out Two Egg Florida, Hell Roaring Gulch, Texas,  and Tortilla Flats Arizona.   :)

Growing up in Ky I do remember Monkeys Eyebrow and Possum Trot was right down the road from Paducah. Even as a kid we use to make fun of it.
