Boomer Nostalgia - Happy Cyber Monday!

The Monday after thanksgiving is the biggest internet shopping day of the year, dubbed cyber Monday. If you are a baby boomer, a person born between 1946 and 1964 your parents did not shop on the internet, but if they went to a toy store they may have purchased toys like these:

1940 toy truck
A Vintage steel pressed Buddy-L Railway express, from the 1940's
Who could forget Barbie?  1960's
1960's Barbie
Toy 50's
1950's metal car with pedals
Creepy crawlers
Creepy Crawlers, 1960's - we put gooey stuff in a
metal mold and cooked it on a special burner.
When it was done we might have a pink
salamander to play with.  Yes we got burns,
kids were tougher back then.
aro fast
The Aero Fast boys bike, 1950's
easy bake oven
Who could forget the easy bake oven?  1960's,
a newer version is available in toy stores today.
Ramblers that were built in the 40's, 50's and 60's are also still available.  Contact you local REALTOR and buy a little piece of nostalgia today!

Looks like you have one of Monika's Barbie dolls too. I truly love to look at old toys especially in mint condition.

I wish I had my old trains and baseball cards that my mom threw out.

Jay, Barbie looks rather sedate in that garb! Teresa, I had the easy bake oven, or some model close in style. It was fun! We have a store here in Cleveland Heights called Big Fun (I wish it had a link but it does not) and they sell all vintage toys. If you are ever looking for something special they would be a great place to contact. The best I can do is provide an address and tel number link - sorry I have made it my goal to support local stores this season lol.

I wish I could find the photo of me in the metal kid-sized car.  I was practicing to be a Realtor even back then!  :)

I loved my Barbie doll, she's long gone.

The bike was similar to mine, only for a girl.  It was my favorite thing in the whole world.  When my Dad brought it home and took it off the truck, I hopped on.  Dad was worried I would fall so he held the back seat for me.  Hahaha, I took off, without training wheels or Dad.  I never did understand the some kids can't ride a bike.  The rest is history...

I had a truck like that green one—wish I still had it—it might be worth some $

I had a deprived childhood. No Barbie Dolls (Barbieish dolls but not Barbie.. my mother was concerned about body image issues... way back then) no easy back oven, no creepy crawler maker... we could get burned...no metal cars...

I had a bike.

I love the one story houses of the 40's, 50's and 60's.  Until recently I thought they were icky but I have a new appreciation.

Thanks Leanne, I just had to slide something real estate related in. :)

Maureen, - I never got that easy bake oven.  I think the bike is probably the most dangerous toy when it comes to the possibility of being maimed, killed, run over or kidnapped. :)

In answer to how much money those nostalgia toys produce today Mademoiselle Alexander Dionne Quint dolls in a wood wagon (5 small dolls in a small wagon about 3" x 10" with a handle) went for $950 on November 22!  They were the old plastic style dolls with the really fakey hair from my childhood.  I was shocked!
