Check the schedule for summer concerts at the AMP to make sure you can get tickets for the groups you like.

The new season opened April 22nd with a show by "Pretty Lights." Already scheduled for May are Lucinda Williams, The Band Perry, and Primus. Chris Young, Rick Springfield, and the Charlie Daniels Band are also on the slate this summer, with more in the works. Those of us with a few years on our shoulders will be looking forward to the B52s and their party music on July 14.

Past shows have included such artists as Lee Ann Womack, Patty Loveless, Ted Nugent, Darius Rucker, and the other LeAnn - LeAnn Rimes.

The AMP has become well known in this area since opening a few years ago. It is a fully covered outdoor arts and entertainment facility at the Northwest Arkansas Mall. Consisting of three acres with 21,000 square feet under cover, it boasts 52 VIP tables and seats more than 2,500 people in row seating. When necessary, the AMP can also accommodate an additional 2,000 folks standing.

The Walton Arts Center purchased the AMP in early 2011 and the caliber of entertainment has only changed for the better. Shows are generally affordable and another good feature is ample, free parking. The AMP also hosts movies and shows for kids.

Don't miss the AMP this summer. It's great entertainment.
