Referrals... I Love To Close 'Em

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Realty Southern Arizona (Sierra Vista)

Referrals are a two-edged sword. On the one hand, one owes a part of their commission to the referral source. Some REALTOR®s feel that their time is diluted, because they work just as hard on the rferral as on any other business, but, then are paid less money.

On the other hand, the referral MAY be the accidental dropping of a client into our lives, because an agent in another city picked your name off of a page on their search engine. Increasingly, and best case, is when an agent in another city really does their homework while locating an agent for the person they refer, Either way, I enjoy working the referral, treating them as I would any other of clients.

Other referrals are received because we have worked hard to establish our reputations, so, when an agent is looking for someone to refer their referral lead to, their decision is much easier, because they find our names everywhere. We are on ActiveRain, FaceBook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and countless other "new" media outlets.

I love referrals... because, despite my "web" of Internet-based exposure, the buyer or seller that I receive as a referral, represent business that I may never have received. The buyer or seller may have walked into any company in my cityy... or, they may have been referred by an agent who did not locate me when they were searching.

Referrals, to me, represent "bonus" business, because they found me, and were not the result of my direct lead-generating efforts.

If, as I normally do, I provide excellent service to the referred party, the odds are that I may receive additional referrals from the satisfied agent who selected me.

Send me your referrals... I'll treat them "Special."

I love sending out referrals.  In the olden days, I used to have to spend half a day combing through internet listings to come up with names to interview by phone.  (I can't even begin to imagine what it took to do it BEFORE the internet.....)

I have discovered that AR is a great (GREAT) way to find agents I can refer business to.  Currently I have sent business to AR agents in Del Rio (Texas), Lubbock (Texas), and Moline (Illinois).
