(Botetourt County Sheriff's Office)

Botetourt County Deputies and Bedford City Police are looking for a missing teenager.

Investigators tell us 19-year-old Samantha Bittler was last seen on September 30th around 10:00 p.m.

According to police, Samantha was staying at a cousin's house in Botetourt County that night, but Samantha was gone when the cousin woke up.  Samantha did not show up at her job in Roanoke County, nor did she call in.

No family member has had contact with Samantha since, nor has anyone been able to reach Samantha on her cell phone.

Police describe Samantha as five feet five inches tall, average build, with short dirty blond hair.

Her car is also missing.  It is a 1999 black Chevrolet Cavalier, with Virginia license plate KAB-1747.

Police did not say if they believe Samantha is a runaway.

If you have any information, call the Bedford City Police Dept. at 540-587-6011, or the Botetourt County Sheriff's Office at 540-473-8230.

THE FAMILY DOES NOT THINK THIS IS A RUN AWAY SITUATION AND SHE APPARENTLY SENT A TEXT TO HER BROTHER MONDAY MORNING AT 2:13AM BUT NO CONTACT WITH HER SINCE THAT LAST MESSAGE.  NO ACTIVITY ON CREDIT CARD, BANK ACCT ETC.  PLEASE HELP HOWEVER POSSIBLE.

JUST ONE AGENT HELPING ANOTHER AND I DONT EVEN KNOW THESE PEOPLE. JUST HAVE KIDS MYSELF.  GET INVOLVED AND MAKE A DIFFERENCE.

Amanda:

We are printing more flyers to get out tonight. Her parents and other family members have been looking on the Blue Ridge Parkway and other mountain areas that have places her car may have gone over.

She was last seen at her cousin's home on Sun. night and later during the night she text messaged her younger brother....just a normal text.  The police have determined that the text was done while she was still at the cousins.  The cousin didn't get up early on Mon. and just assumed that she had gone to work.

No one knew any differently until later Mon. night....so there is a lot of unanswered time.  Unfortunately we do not have a clue as to what time she left, if it was still dark, what direction she went in.

We do know there hasn't been any activity on her bank account and that she didn't have much money with her.  The police cannot get a signal on her cell phone either.

Thank you for your concern.

I am Samantha's cousin and I was surfing the internet and stumbled upon your post. It's very kind and considerate to see that there are a lot of people out there trying to help us find her. As of now, there is no word. The police are doing everything they can and I have done everything possible in my power to help find her. She's an amazing person and a very friend. She's very near and dear to my heart and all I want, along with everyone else, is to find her. Thanks again for your concern. I'll keep updating...

Morgan:  Are you Steve's fiance?  i got an email from him today (Sweet guy!!)  I also posted this to www.city-data.com in Virginia and on the "parenting format of that site.  Gail Arthur, I think her husband works with Samantha's dad has posted it on Top Agent Toolbox.  I had another Active Rain member yesterday say she would post it to her MLS board I think she was in DC.  This is what we need to do.  Get the word out to as many people as possible.  THEN get a massive man hunt going, talk to all her friends, ask them were she might have gone.  If she was leaving early in the AM did she drink coffee?  any coffee shops around?  Hand out flyers.  Someone has to know something.  Keep thinking positive.  Love to you all.  Becky

Becky,

I talked with Samantha's parents earlier this evening and her step-mom, Ellen, is going to e-mail me some info she has at her office Fri. morn.

I think I met Amie a couple years ago when their family was here.  Is your Mother, Lisa?  Lisa is the sister to Gordon (Sam's dad).

The internet is such a wonderful tool that we can use positively for a situation such as this.  We printed more flyers this evening and got them to some young people that are going to distribute them.  We will be printing more tomorrow.

This is affecting everyone.  I am so glad that some of her cousins and friends have found us on the web and I think it's great that they are contributing.  Becky, I don't know if Sam likes coffee, but I'll ask her Dad in the morning.  We all just wish that we had an idea what time she left, and what direction she was headed, etc.

As I get any news, I'll put it here and Becky, I'll try to call you over the week-end.  Thanks again for your continued support.

Gail

Samantha and I were 2 months apart in age. We grew up together. I know her better than anyone else in this world and this is NOT right. We need to find her. Keep her in your thoughts and prayers. It's so surreal.

Morgan and Heather:  You kids (i assume) all know people that know her.  Start talking among yourselves, to her best friends, boyfriend (if any) THINK the way she might think..If she was leaving what directions would she have gone?  I asked if she was a coffee drinker, if so, look for a Quick Shop, visit it early in the AM to see if the clerk that might have been on duty and possibly had seen her-give out fliers to every possible stop between where she was that night and where she SHOULD have gone. ie.work, home, etc.

Why was she where she was anyway?  have the police searched that house for clues, fingerprints, tiretracks of unknown vehicles?

Who had she talked to/texted that night?  She texted her brother but who before then?  Texting is very popular my 21, 19, & 16 can rack up 1000's in a month.

GAIL:  Have her parents called the phone company for her phone records that night AND SINCE THAT NIGHT?  You should be able to get her cell phone #'s of people she talked to that night!!!!Police probably have already gotten the records but maybe since her dad and her were close, it might shed some light on the situation.  Get the records and start contacting people.

I know in my nieces case, WE were tracking down leads ourselves and talking to her friends. It was amazing what they know about each other and MIGHT be willing to share ESPECIALLY if foul play is suspected and they think they could be an accessory.  The police were doing all they could with the resources they had BUT we tracked her down.

I will call my brother tomorrow too.  We will have a conversation about the strange things that happened to my niece-it was amazing she was alive and still in Topeka.  That is why I would be pushing for an Amber Alert.  (I know I keep bringing that up!!)

Ok- to answer all your questions;

I have personally been to and spoken with the people she was with that night and they are just as shocked and worried as we are. they have nothing to hide. Just a buncha kids that got wasted and passed out- when they got up she was gone.

She made a phone call to her brother that night at 2:24Am, not a text message. And it lasted 3min+. When questioned, the brother said he didn't pick up and didn't get a voice mail but I don't know how that is possible AT ALL when the record says it lasted for 3+min. Cell phones don't just ring that long- there was a conversation or there's a voicemail. Someone's hiding something...

I've also called EVERY person I know that she associates with. All our friends are the same... everyone says the same things... no one has heard of her or seen her in days.

I made 100 flyers and passed them out to anyone and every store we could find within 50 miles of where she should be. We talked to people... we talked to everyone.

We talked to all the neighbors that live in that neighborhood where she was that night- no one knows anything. I've personally driven the roads she takes numerous times and my family and I have even walked and hiked the roads in search of some sort of clues. Nothing.

We have the cell phone records and there's nothing suspicious about anything. Her phone has been dead and her mailbox full since Monday. Which means she's not checking it.

I'm exausted and the next thing I'm looking into is a physchic investigator....

Morgan:  I have a 21, 19, & 16 yr old and kids stay the night at our house all the time.  Who else was at the house drinking and passed out that was not there in the morning?  If they went to bed at about 1:00 who all was there?  Who wasnt there in the morning when it was discovered that Sam wasnt there?  I mean, at my house, if they have been partying they will go get something to eat at Denny's at all hours of the night.  Is there a late night place to eat close to her cousins house?  That might be a place to take a flyer-if there is. AND is anyone else unaccounted for?

Was Sam so out of it that if she did decide to drive home, she would have been impaired?
