Brad,  Thanks for stopping by -- I'm not going to give an answer until this evening to give everyone a chance to comment on this question.  It will be interesting to see how many people agree with you.

Gary - Isn't Earth supposed to be egg shaped (as distinct from politically pear shaped)?  Such logic would mean one of the poles would have to be "it". I'll go for Mt Erebus (Antarctica). Note that my logic is not something I make a living with. With a tape long enough, and a place to stand, I could probably work it out.

Gary-If I have to take a wild guess I would say Antartica. The only thing that came to mine. I will return for the answer.

The highest mountain above the Earth's center is Chimborazo in Ecuador.  It isn't  as high in altitude as Mount Everest but if you measure from the center of the Earth it will be higher because of the strange fact that the Earth is not a sphere.  The Earth is wider at the equator than anywhere else. Chimborazo is almost on the equator so it's peak is almost 2 kilometers farther from the center of the Earth than Mount Everest.

Sharon,  This was a new one for me too.  I didn't know about the bulge at the equator. I hope you have a great day too.

Elizabeth,  It is fun when we learn.  Have a wonderful day.

Hi Gary~

My husband said Mount Everest.

My first step was going to take me directly to google, so I'm glad you made it clear that it wasn't an option!

This is my "what I learned today moment" Now I can go and share this with my husband too!

Thanks Gary!
