Driving through suburban sprawl, one strip center looks pretty much like the next. The only way this place came to my attention was that I was in Flower Mound to take a friend to lunch. I picked him up at his work and he didn't have much time, so it was going to be one of those luck-of-the-draw kinds of meals. We pulled into a strip center that had two places to have lunch. He had already tried out one place which guaranteed that I would want to try the other one. The results were good. Luck was with us. What we found was an Italian deli called Alongi's Italian Market and Deli, with a lunch counter and friendly staff. What a deal!
The entry is on the south side of the strip center not facing Long Prairie Road. and isn't immediately obvious. Persevere, persevere, the objective is lunch! The counter staff was chatty, friendly and helpful which was nice. My friend ordered a meatball sandwich which he pronounced as being "the best" he has had in Dallas. I ordered the lasagna, which had a good flavor but the pasta was just beyond the edge of overcooked. The traditional wedding cookies (made on-site I believe) were good. The prices were very modest, the meal was quick. That pretty well takes care of everything anyone could possibly want!
