Postlets Real Estate Listing Advertising Tool

As of April 11th the widely-used Postlets listing syndication website/platform has been obtained by one of the leading Real Estate website companies, Zillow.

What is Postlets?

As a Real Estate agent Postlets is an extremely useful and FREE tool when advertising a new listing. With several online classifieds and Real Estate websites to advertise your listing on it takes a lot of time to create a listing presentation for each one of them. Postlets saves you the trouble -- Create your listing one time on Postlets and the website will send it out to all of the major classifieds and Real Estate websites! As a client of a Real Estate agent you will be satisifed if your agent is familiar and utilizes Postlets or a similar service as they are promoting the sale of your home to as much of the web as possible.

Will Postlets change now that it's a part of Zillow?

Many people have been skeptical about the acquisition of Postlets for Zillow. The fact that Postlets is a free service is one of it's best features. Postlets has come out and said that they will remain a free service! What about all of the Real Estate websites that Postlets sends your listing to? Aren't those websites competitors of Zillow? Postlets has also said that they will continue to send out listings to all of these websites and are looking for even more websites to distribute the listing ads to! So all seems to remain the same or better with Postlets! Within the coming weeks/months I am sure we will see some new changes and improvements!

Jorge - I have been using postlets for some time and would hate to see them change.  I am keeping my fingers crossed that it really will stay the same.

Yes Pam, it would be tough to see a drastic change in such a wonderful service but I'm optimistic about it becoming even better than it was before. Thanks for the comment!

I think even Zillow knows that Poslets makes their money from advertising. If they do stop making it free, they won't get any advertising dollars from it. (Just my 2 cents)

Great information Jorge, thanks.  Todd - you're right, the more a company charges for things, the less people will use it, meaning the less marketable their advertising section becomes.  This is why Craigslist makes almost all of its posts FREE!  The fact that millions use Craigslist each day, makes the few things they do charge for, worth it.  If they charged for every post, many people would flat out stop going there.

Good info.

Let me agree with everyone else here that it is doubtful that the Postlets service will be made free.  It is a low cost tool and makes sense for Zillow to keep the base offering free.  Besides, there is plenty of competition in the field.  In fact, we've though about offering a tool like this as well.

Hey Sara from Zillow here.  Two months later.... and it's still free!  :)  Don't worry, no plans to change that.

Actually - because of the Postlets acquistion we announced a cool tool for agents today! In using some of the technology we gained from Postlets , you can now go to any of your listings on Zillow and generate Craigslist code.  So you can just take that code and cut and paste it to easily make a Craigslist ad.

I expect you'll only see the Postlet product improve from here on out!  Let me know if you have more suggestions!

Sara - I appreciate you taking the time to comment on my blog and I know it will be appreciated by other readers of my blog as well. To have a representative of Zillow speak on behalf of the new Postlets acquisition right here on Active Rain is great!

The new Craigslist code tool should really come in handy for a lot of people, myself included.

Thanks for the comment!
