Now THAT is a dream team of Real Estate and blogging PROS!
By joining the Greater Baltimore Board of Realtors you get access to lots of classes and events. Kim Jones is a Rookie Mentor. She is incredibly giving of her time. She is always willing to answer questions and get you to the right place.
Notice Margaret taking a picture in the background? I bet she doesn't go ANYWHERE without that camera!
Marney Kirk, a realtor who specializes in Towson and Timonium, says write about what you know, about your area, about your passions. Write about events, store openings, things to do, become the area expert. If you write about a local store opening or event, be sure you know the phone number because people will find you and call with questions thinking you are the representative! Marney uses WordPress and blogs very consistently (daily, and sometimes multiple times in a day). She IS the Towson and Timonium expert.
Just start writing! Margaret is a very willing mentor for folks. You never know when she is going to call you to comment on your blog. Margaret told me she almost always learns something new when she reaches out by phone. Don't stop with blogging, pick up the phone! TALK to people. When blogging about listings, don't just re-do your MLS/MRIS listing, tell a story. Help people to feel what it will be like to live in that home, help them to FEEL the house through your description. If you are working with a buyer, one of your goals should be to think about the house as a listing down the road.
June Piper-Brandon attended the Rookie Society's presentation on blogging even though she is not a Rookie in Real Estate, or a Rookie in blogging.
It is always good to be open and willing to share with the newbies! June said that you can learn something everywhere you go, in every class you attend. She likes keeping on top of all things Real Estate!
It's always fun after a meeting to have lunch and really connect. I got to have lunch with Margaret Rome and brand new agent Rosa Almond. Rosa jumped right in and joined Active Rain right after the class.
This sign was on our table at Ruby Tuesday's...kind of appropriate, don't you think?
WHY DO YOU BLOG?
IT'S THE REWARDS, BABY!
