Today I ran the Colfax Half Marathon in Denver Colorado! 8,500 runners total between the full marathon, half marathon and the marathon relay started at 6:00 this morning in drizzley, cool air. Surprisingly there were a lot of spectators out cheering us on throughout the race.
A part of the race course had us running through a firesataion. It was really cool! There were several firefighters there, their truck had the ladder up draped with a huge American flag. It was a little too high, but many of us tried anyway to jump up and touch the flag. I carried my phone during the race and thought I was filming as I ran through the Firestation, but apparently my icy cold fingers did not push record and I didn't get it :( !
My running partner got sick this week and had to cancel on me. I knew a few others that were running so I found another friend to run with. It was really great to run with her as this was her first race. Her family came to support her and give us some much needed encouragement at mile 7 or so.
I had some pictures and a funny video of the ground after making it all the way through the firestation, however, my phone has lost internet capabilities at the moment, so... no go!
I know this won't be my last race, but for now I will take a little break and rest. I don't bounce back as quickly as I used to!
