There are slimeballs everywhere!

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with BLRGUY(Beach & Luxury Realty Inc)

About a few years ago, our company had an individual contact my broker under the guise of joining our company....he was asking for all sorts of stuff that wasn't normal for an agent to ask for upon joining a company.

He then said, when I refused him our policy and procedures manual, that he couldn't join our company.

Well the following week, one of my agents gets a recruit letter from this guy....MY RECRUIT LETTER!(Now with HIS company logo on it)The letter was word for word what I send out with the same exact commission example.

Having a fit..I wrote to this jerk and asked him what he was thinking? He told me to relax, that he was considering starting his own company before he contacted us and we just gave him the incentive.

I told him...he was full of it!I then went to Sunbiz.org and looked him up....he had been a broker and real estate company owner for 2 years!(obviously, not very good at it!)

I wrote him with that info along with a demand to stop using my information and with the latest information I had on him of his unethical ways,I would forward everything to our attorney,if he didn't stop!

That was the last I heard from "Mr Real Estate"

There are slimeballs everywhere!

Rick, some people just have no ideas of their own. They have to copy successful people.

Hi BLR Guy,

It's really sad that some people have to STEAL from others in order to achieve success.  I happy to hear that you stood up for yourself by putting this guy on notice.

There was someone out there advertising on craigslist and someone forwarded it to me because it was my niche.  She said "look at this advertisement, great idea".  Too bad it was MY advertisement word for word!  I told her "it IS my advertisement copied and pasted"

grumble!

I think you did great by calling him on the carpet.  Maybe you should step on him also!  These type of people should not be in real estate.  If they copy your material without your approval think what they would do with a contract.  Whenever I am asked for information, I normally am glad to help anyone out.  I admire people that build or open a new business.  We can learn from each other.  But this person is a slim ball.  I think you should feel honored in a way.  People only want to steal from the best!

Broker ~ St Pete Beach FL Real Estate

I definitely remember that one, as he wasted my time by pretending to want to join our company. It's unfortunate that a situation like this then makes you suspiscious of others.

At some point though, he will be out of business, as his ways will catch up to him. What goes around, comes around...sometimes it just takes a while :)

Wouldn't most of you all agree that any "broker" who cann't even write his own letter, likely won't be much competition?   Has anyone heard of him again?

But you did share a little  idea of  what a typical Policy and Procedures manual  might include, I suppose:

the Policy may likely be:  Steal from others-

and the Procedures  would include :  either someone might SUE

or by Manual means take it out of you!

On one hand it's an honor that you're so good others copy you, by the same token, it's sad there are people out there who actually do this stuff. Bad things shouldn't happen to good people! :-)
