Nicholas House is a non-profit agency located in Atlanta that helps homeless families transition to a stable home. Unfortunately circumstances arise that cause families to lose their home and that's when Nicholas House steps in to provide transitional housing. One of the goals of Nicholas House is to keep families intact during this transitional phase. They provide counseling and other support services including teaching and promoting life and parenting skills. Since 1982, Nicholas House has helped 1500 families transition from homelessness. Latest Census figures report that 26,000 people are homeless in Atlanta. Georgia also ranks 49 out of 50 on child homelessness. According to RealtyTrac, Atlanta has the 3rd highest volume of foreclosures. There are many children and families in need Georgia, especially Atlanta. Nicholas House is always looking for volunteers. Volunteering is essential to keep programs like the Nicholas House able to thrive and provide services to those most in need.
