We Weathered the Alabama Storm:  Thanks for Your Thoughtfulness

Wow is just about all that I can say. But following that, are my heartfelt thanks to all the ActiveRainers who sent text messages, emails and even a few phone calls to make sure I was okay.

Fortunately no member of my family was affected beyond power outages and I am both thankful and grateful for that.

The hardest hit communities (Pleasant Grove, Hueytown, Pratt City and Forestdale) surrounded my neighborhood of Fairfield, AL so we were very fortunately that Fairfield suffered no damage.

And while we survived the tornado, many didn't having lost lives, homes, memorabilia accumulated over a lifetime.  It's all so overwhelming to take in.

This morning on the freeway, I saw a convoy of fire trucks and emergency vehicles apparently from another state so everyone is rallying to pitch in where needed as usual.

I'll be babysitting tomorrow as my daughter and other family members head to Tuscaloosa to pitch in to aid in the cleanup.

Hope my fellow Southeastern Rainers came out unscathed.  I know that Ann Allen and Elizabeth "Coop" Cooper faired pretty well.

Thanks again ActiveRain family for you thoughts and prayers.

It was amazing to see the devastation and to hear about the lives lost...I'm not much geography person; how far from Tuscaloosa are you?  I know the whole SE was hammered; take a deep breath and know many thoughts were with you.

Thanks Nancy. I am glad that I was not able to watch it all unfold. Seeing the aftermath was quite enough.

Thanks Jane. I wouldn't doubt the statistics but there has been at least one that I can remember that seemed worse than this one. But then even one not as bad would seem like the worst one to me. I appreciate you thoughts.

Glad you are okay Charita.  I had a friend in AL who suffered no damage & is okay but her area is without power.  She was to be married tomorrow but they have cancelled the wedding - partly due to power loss & partly due to the fact that friends/family have suffered so much loss.
