purple flower

My Sony Cybershot point-n-shoot camera has been dropped way too many times, so it was finally time to bite the bullet and buy a new camera. I purchased my first digital SLR and I haven't had much time to play with it yet. Actually, I'm a little intimidated by it.

I decided to go out in my back yard and try out one of the settings for close-ups. I am amazed that I am the one who took this photo. The flower looks like it is floating! This just might be fun after all!

I love my Sony Cybershot. I would have gotten another. I'm keeping a Canon camera alive.  Third time out of the shop

Anna Banana - I subscribed to his blog, but I don't think I could understand a word he is saying until I can get my feet under this camera.

Wallace - my Sony Cybershot still goes with me wherever I go, but it was time for a new camera that could do a little more. Three times in the shop? Ouch!

Well if this photo is one of your first shots with your new camera, I'm thinking you made a fine choice in losing the point and shoot for the DSLR.

Craig - Thanks! My camera is smart enough to tell me I still have the lens cap on. But it's really nice about it, it tells me "it's too dark to take a photo". Much better than "take the lens cap off, dummy!". And I'm having a tough time remembering to turn the camera off when I'm done. My point-n-shoot turned itself off after a couple minutes of non-action.

Very nice, Cynthia. An absolutely stunning photo for a first try, but today’s DSLR cameras do make things much easier.

Nice photo Cynthia. Not to put any pressure on you, but now that you are the proud owner of a fancy new camera I'll be expecting some Ansel Adams like photography featured on your blog.

It does appear to be floating!  Can't wait to get my new camera.  I know I've been saying that for months.  I've decided that I need to get it next week, no matter what!

Cynthia, I am proud to see you using your new Nikon camera. This flower almost appears to be 3D and really pops…

Russel - today's SLR's mean that even I can take a great photo, you're right.

Tammy - yeah, glad you liked the flower.

Fernando - the basics is probably as far as I get unless I get the photo bug.

Malcolm - no pressure????

Donna - I've been looking for months as well. Finally decided on the Nikon 3100.

Paul - Thanks! This camera has a menu that helps you adjust the camera to the settings you need without having to understand camera lingo. It's good for a beginner like me.

Michael - columbines ... is that what those are?

Janice - Isn't it cool? I've never had a camera that would bring a focal point so forward!

Karen - I'm excited about the possibilites ... time for me to learn how to use it now.
