5.  Ask for a list of the regular classes offered.  Look over the textbooks and curriculaum guides.  Look over the lab or reheawrsal facilities.  You might ask about the credentials and preparation of the teachers but don't take it too seriously.  You would certainly prefer a science teacher who had spent some time in biology labs.  But then I have seen teachers with Master's and even doctor's degrees who were embarassing flops. 

 

And get a list of special classesIf learning fencing or computers are big on your list, you will need a school which offers same.

 

6. GEt out to see the school's public performances;  concedrts, dramas, sience fairs, etc.  You might not see professional  class here (apart from the football team). But when you see evidence of the school's taking the time and effort to teach and organize the little darlings in these rpoductions, it's usually a good sign.

 

7.  Talk to the professional teachers in your town or neighborhood.  Solmetimes they reflect the bias and gossip of the school district.  But many times they know things.  Particularly if they or some of their collegaues have experience with a given schcool or a principal.
