Governer Rick Scott announced this past week that 2010 marked the lowest statewide crime rate since 1971!
In 2010, there were 4,105 crimes reported for every 100,000 residents, which was 7% lower than it was in 2009.
Violent crimes fell by 10% and property crimes, like buglary, dropped by 6%.

I can walk my dogs at the middle of the night and feel safe...
But I live in a small town and I've always felt safe in here...

As a sixth generation Floridian, I find this to be great news. St. Pete had gotten pretty 'rough' when I left several decades ago. Any idea why?
