Our new blogsite

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Arizona Realty

Our new blogsite, courtesy of Mary McKnight and RSS Pieces is almost here.  The focus is now on creating and fine tuning the initial five articles that we have to create in order to give birth to this bouncing baby blog.  It should be in the next week or so - wonder if that qualifies for another dependant tax deduction for 2006? :-)

Tony has been digging into Realty Blogging - I haven't been able to spirit it away from him so far - according to him it's everything Mary said it was - and then some.

One concern that is rearing it's head is the risk of duplicate content on Active Rain and our own Blog www.HavensAbuzz.com (currently pointed at our website).  How "different" does the content need to be in order to avoid being considered "duplicate"?  An exact match?  Does reordering paragraphs make it "different"?

I'm sure I'll know the answers soon - so much to learn - so little time!

I'm hesitant to do so. I think it's great to have your own blog on your own website..But, you don't get the power of multiple blogs and the presence AR will eventually offer in the search engines, merely from it's size. Duplicate content will probably give you a hit. If you look at what the Real Estate Tomato did, he took off most of his blogs that were initially posted to avoid the duplicate content topic...Now, he starts a portion of the blog in AR, then sends a link to his blog on his site...Just some food for thought :)

The duplicate content is a good question.  When you get the definitive answer we will all want to know.  I currently have avoided duplicate content, but that means I'm writing a minimum of two entries a day and many days, it's more.  That's time consuming and difficult on busy day.

Suzanne - Since your new blog site is locally targeted and will probably generate far more business than ActiveRain, you might want to use an approach here like the Real Estate Tomato does. Post the full entry on PhoenixArizonaHomeSearch, and then a brief summary with a link on ActiveRain. That way there's no duplicate content, and both audiences get to read your message.

Fear not all... Suzanne has an RSS Pieces blog and we are busy working with AR to integrate our blogs directly with AR.  Meaning, when you post to your RSS Pieces outside blog, it will auto excerpt content here on your AR blog.  Nifty, huh?  Geez, I may have just let the cat out of the bag.

When Mary gets that done, I want to know how to do it with Typepad!
