The Breaux Bridge Crawfish Festival will be held on Friday, May 6th through Sunday, May 8th, 2011 in BreauxWorld Renowned Breaux Bridge Crawfish Festival - May 2011 Bridge, Louisiana.

Where else except in Louisiana will you find a 3 day celebration totally devoted to this most celebrated crustacean, the Crawfish? Every year on the first full weekend in May, thousands congregate in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana to pay tribute and homage to the mudbug we all know and love.

The world renowned Breaux Bridge Crawfish Festival began in 1960 as a spin-off of the Breaux Bridge Centennial Celebration.The city had been proclaimed as the Crawfish Capital of the World by the Louisiana Legislature the year prior and the rest is history. Each May thousands of visitors flock to Breaux Bridge to become a part of the festivities.

The Crawfish Festival also offers one of the largest gatherings of talented Cajun musicians around.Thirty (30) of the best Cajun, Zydeco and Swamp Pop bands will playing all weekend long on 3 separate  stages. Watch or join the Cajun dance contests, or participate in the Cajun music workshops held in the heritage tent. 

And no Crawfish Festival would be complete without great Cajun food!Enjoy dellicious servings of Crawfish Etouffee, Fried Crawfish, Crawfish Boudin, Crawfish Po-Boys, Crawfish Spinach Boat, Crawfish Jambalaya, Crawfish Pies, Eggplant Crawfish and Shrimp Jambalaya, and of course, Boiled Crawfish. No matter your preference there's numerous other delightful dishes to please and tease your palette and taste buds.

Besides great food and entertaining music, there's plenty of acitivities to delight and participate in:

  • Race your crawfish in the Crawfish Races, 
  • Eat your way to celebrity status by entering the Crawfish Eating Contest (you'll need to eat over 55 pounds of mudbugs to break the current record!),
  • Demonstrate your culinary skills in the Crawfish Etouffee Cook-off,
  • Two-step on over to our Cajun Dance Contest or Zydeco Dance Contest,
  • Relax in your lawn chair on Sunday to watch the Parade celebrating Royalty and locals who compete for the best float prizes.
  • Shop untill you drop at over 70 vendor booths for Arts & Crafts, Festival T-Shirts and souvenirs.

So this weekend plan to crawl on down to Breaux Bridge to suck some heads and pinch some tails for one heck of a party!

DRIVING DIRECTIONS:

From Baton Rouge:

Interstate 10 West, Exit 109. When you exit at 109, take a left onto Rees Street (Hwy 328). Parc Hardy is located 2 miles on the left, after first traffic light.

From Lake Charles:

Interstate I-10 East, Exit 109. When you exit I-10 at mile marker 109, take a right onto Rees Street (Hwy 328). Parc Hardy located 2 miles on the left after first traffic light.

From Shreveport:

Interstate 49 south to I-10 East, Exit 109. When you exit I-10 at mile marker 109, take a right onto Rees Street (Hwy 328). Parc Hardy located 2 miles on the left after first traffic light.

From Lafayette:

Interstate 10 East, Exit 109 or Highway 371 (locally known at Lafayette/Breaux Bridge Highway). When you exit I-10 at mile marker 109, take a right onto Rees Street (Hwy 328). Parc Hardy located 2 miles on the left after first traffic light.
