I know this is supposed to be a real estate and community blog, and I have all of these great blog ideas..... but...... Osama bin Laden was killed by U.S Special Forces yesterday, and I was up late last night and early this morning watching the coverage and know this is what will be on my mind and the conversations at work all day today. This is such a monumental event, and one I really never thought would happen!
DC residents flocked to the White House last night in a wonderful display of patriotism like we've not seen in years. This country united after 9/11/2001, and we've gradually lost that sense of togetherness since then. A lot can happen in 10 years. But the killing of our enemy #1 who was proudly responsible for so many American deaths and heartbreaks seems to be bringing us back together. I am so proud of our troops, special forces, national security and intelligence teams, and our president who had the nerve to tell them to go into Pakistan in an affluent Islamabad suburb in helicopters and get that man.
I love this video found on You Tube, shows young people celebrating on the streets of DC. It seems kind of morbid to celebrate anyone's death, but then again, Bin Laden would have to be an exeception to that rule This country has been through hell because of that man, and seeing young people wrapped in American flags at midnight with the White House glowing in the background, celebrating this victory is a breath of fresh air.
Our troops and their families have sacrificed so much in the past 10 years and this is a much needed boost to them and solid victory that is worthy of even more thanks for their hard work and immeasurable sacrifice to our country.
