first impressions sell [yourself]

Of course we've all heard that first impressions are extremely important. Perhaps even everything. It's hard to persuade people of one thing when they're already convinced a certain way about something/someone. For example, if a home looks like it's falling apart on the outside, it's going to be tough to get people excited about seeing the inside. The same goes with meeting people. They are probably persuaded a particular way about your "insides" before they've even had a chance to see them. So, how do you make sure you start out on the right foot? There are a few tactics that you can take to make sure you don't blow it from the start when you meet someone.

First, lose the ego/pride. If someone says something that offends you, you get your feelings hurt, or whatever, do your best to be gracious about it and have a sense of humor. In other words, don't take yourself too seriously.

If you're needy- don't show it! This is a turn off in every kind of situation. So you're trying desperately to sell yourself to a client..they immediately feel that the ball is in their court and respect for you begins to go down the drain.

If your client will be going without something important or big without you- don't be afraid to let them know in a non-arrogant, friendly way. It's okay for them to realize your value!

Know your audience. If the person you are talking to seems to be losing interest, spring the conversation into a topic you know they will be interested in. It may be a tangent, but it will make them more interested in talking with you!

Last, make sure they know you are listening and paying attention to what they say by reiterating their points. It's amazing what it can do when a person feels heard in a conversation. They are much more likely to form a good opinion of their time with you.

Of course, these methods aren't full-proof, but they are sure to help! Good luck!

And you might want to see some homes that are sure to win you over at College Station Homes or College Station Real Estate
