Many are wondering if the market has stabalized in the West Kootenays. In fact we were one of the few luck regions that have not seen the fluctuations that say, the Vancouver market has done. We did go through a period last year where there was very little movement. Folks were just so skittish with the economic situation that they were unwilling to make any moves.
We have been seeing a tremendous growth of enterprise in our area, through Rossland, Trail, Montrose, Fruitvale and Salmo. Teck is hiring, the Waneta Dam Project is underway and hiring, Firebird Technologies is gearing up to do more hiring for new projects. We are seeing more and more "Help Wanted" ads in our local papers. Things are definately looking up, and with the Feds in the US stating that rates will be stable for a long while to come (which influences Canada greatly), finally we have an optimistic outlook. The general feeling in the area is uplifting on all fronts.
If you are looking to buy or sell in the West Kootenays, please feel free to contact me. I'd love to help you out.
