How Well Do You Communicate With Others?

How Well Do You Communicate With Others.

As Realtors and Real Estate Agents we must understand the importance of communication, our careers depend on it.  We chose a career in which we must know how to communicate effectively with our clients, customers, bank reps, and loan officers daily.  Communication is a skill that we must master and in order to master it, we must have effective listening skills, as agents this is extremely important!

In order to master your listening skills, you must pay close attention to the speaker, read their body language, don't interrupt the speaker, show them that you are interested in what they have to say, repeat what they have told you in your own words to let them know that you do understand what they are saying.  It is okay to disagree, but make sure that you put your feet in their shoes (not literally), so when you make your point they don't feel like you are just putting them down.

When you are on a listing interview, the client wants to make sure they have an agent that they can talk to and listens to to them.  No matter how many credentials you may have if a client believes that you were not listening to them, you will not get the listing!  Selling a property takes team work, so lets communicate more effectively with each other and work together.

Great post.  Too many agents make the listing presentation all about their own goals.  Don't forget your clients. Listen (and respond) to their needs.

Lorinda -- VERY well said. I like the 'don't interrupt part'.  I was speaking with someone yesterday and he continued to interrupt me. So by the third time, I stopped my speech abruptly and he got the message.  Listen, listen, listen and watching body language is important as well.

Lorinda, I'm with Barbara, Very Well Said! The most important part of our communication skills is how well we listen to our clients and customers!
