Veteran's Park in Ripon has tennis courts!!
I'm not a tennis player but I got some funny idea in my head that my son & I should do something together (just him & I) during this Easter Break. Since my hubby was out bonding with our older son at the Ripon Fire Academy.
First Noah & I had to assess what tools we had to accomplish playing tennis together. We found only 1 tennis racket (super old). It was my mom's that Noah had managed to obtain from his Grandma at one of her garage sales last year. We had slobbered on tennis balls that the dogs had loved on (that just wouldn't do).
Off to Target we went. They actually have tennis rackets for different age groups. Funny, who invented that one? We bought the 9 & over one (I fell for it). We also got two 3 packs of tennis balls, one set actually said (for practice).
We couldn't go hungry, so I stopped at Panda Express to fill our bellies. While we were eating, we started talking about what we knew about tennis. Noah claimed he has experience in tennis (Wii...that is). We looked up on my smart phone how the scoring goes in tennis (15, 20, 30, 40...you must win by 2 points & what love means in tennis).
We get to the tennis courts (4 courts to choose from...all empty). We never even get to the scoring bit. Our goal became how many times could we volley the ball back n forth. It didn't matter how many times it bounced or even if it rolled, basically "movement of the ball" was just fine with us. 28 was the most we made it. He even let me take his picture (that's rare nowadays).
Note: bathrooms in the outfield are open even when no one is playing ball. (good stuff to know)
