Sometimes I Can Do Without Technology

So, new technology is supposed to save us time?  I question that when I remember clients and agents came together, signed paperwork and in the small town I once lived in, drove to deliver to the next agent in record time.

Now we have software that doesn't seem to load nor correctly due to what are called "kinks", can't make changes and have them stay changed, files too large to email, fax machines that refuse to send, copiers that continually jam, information that goes to outer space never to be seen by humans again, and all the while taking 5x longer to get from point A to point B than when we just got in our cars, got together face to face, enjoyed the process of being together.  Deals went actually faster.

Now I'm not against technology at all.  I find it fascinating.....when it works correctly.  But in a world where technology changes on an hourly basis, things just don't seem to work as well as when we first had Word Processors causing us much more time and effort and much more time away from family, even when sitting at our computers at home working into the wee hours of the night.

Give me back those days when we had one contract, not 5 today.  Woops.....hold on.....I need to answer my cell phone where the voice on the other end will surely come and go and I will have to "guess" at what the conversation is getting at!  LOL

Good Day :)

Sharon, I often say that in Heaven there are no cell phones or faxes. I'll bet you feel the same way!

Nothing beats discussing a deal in person so you both get a better idea of where each other's clients stand. Somedays we are to technologiclly driven to stop and say hi. Yikes.

Sharon,

Sometimes it just feels like the whole technology world is in beta, doesn't it?

Sharon,

You must have been reading my mind.  It is amazing how we become slaves to technology.  I need a break from it all.

I know I'm not too old to learn new technology... just seems it doesn't work half the time.  I'm losing so much time with my husband fixing computer glitches all night, every night.

I DO look forward to heaven someday.  Unless the Almighty has a warped sense of humor and sits me in front of a broken computer for eternity.  lol

On those days when my cell phone, computer, fax machine, etc. aren't working I fall back to my old fashioned crank telephone, like the kind they used on Petticoat Junction, to bring sanity back to my life. "Hello Sharon? Get me KLONDIKE 6-5-7." :-)  Good post Sharon.  Best of luck to you in the future.

Sometimes it's nice to "un-plug". It's a constant process to keep up to date with systems but you will be more efficient for it. Good luck.
