Out and About in Oxnard, CA - Cinco De Mayo
One thing to note about Cinco de Mayo Celebrations is important. While many in the U.S. think Cinco de Mayo (May 5) celebrates Mexican Independence Day, it does not! The event actually honors the day a group of Mexican patriots, led by Gen. Ignacio Zaragoza, defeated a well-equipped French invasion force in the city of Puebla on May 5, 1862. It is not even as big a holiday in Mexico as it is in the U.S.
