IE-7 Vs Firefox

By

My PC is about a year old now. When I had it built I had them install XP as I did not want to deal with Vista and Windows 7 had not yet come out.

However the last few months I have been having a lot of problems with IE-7 on a few of the web sites. Speciffically with my Local MLS ( RMLS ).

Now I have high speed internet and my PC works very fast on all of the web sites except for the RMLS web site. Searching and Printing began to remind me of the old days when you hit the print button and then went and made a sandwich.

So I upgraded to IE-8. That was a no go. Did not seem to help and I did not like the fact that the email Icon Button did not work on the upper menu task bar.

Then one morning after going back to IE-7 RMLS came out with a notice that they had just optimized the site for FireFox.

I gave it a shot and wow does it ever work quick. The Searches and the Printouts just flat out scream.

I can only conclude that given that Microsoft has moved on from XP and no longer want to provide help and given that windows updates are automatic, something must have happened that I can not solve.

I am pretty happy with the speed of Firefox but am surprised that it will not work with some web sites.

Guess that nothing is perfect.

Whats next for me? Who knows maybe a Mac is in the future?

Herb- get the MAC, I am so rough on a computer, I travel 1000 miles a week, banging and dropping my equipment, I got my MAC three years ago and I have had NO PROBLEMS < DID I SAY NO PROBLEMS..I had replace a hard drive every 4 months with a PC . So easy to convert

Herb- I prefer Google's Chrome browser to either.  There are a few sites that only work in IE but for everything else I use Chrome and love it!

When I do get a MAC it will be for the video Editor. Currently our MLS will not work on a MAC.

Herb, I recently wrote almost the same post.  I'm jealous that your MLS has adapted firefox.  I have started using Firefox but have to Toggle between IE because of our MLS.  I have found some programs that don't work on Firefox but overall I prefer it over IE.

Firefox works well and you can optimize it easily for your preferences.

Haven't used IE anything for 5 years.

What?? Problems with Internet Exploder? I always upgrade IE, one version behind. Sometime after IE 10 comes out I'll upgrade to IE 9.

Herb,

Tied to IE here for MLS.  Otherwise, I would give FF a shot.

Thanks all for the comments. One of these days when Money no longer is a force in the universe Operating systems will work as well as we all know that they are capable of.

It is just a fact that things don't work as well as we wish causes us to constantly buy the next best thing, which always just seems to fall a little short.

I found out about firefox through AR and made the switch. It's just a matter of time before I switch to a Mac...I share your sentiments.
