So what do Napoleon, Nixon and Yogi Berra have in common? Well, we can credit Yogi with this entertaining quote. I'll take some creative interpretation to guess what Yogi was attempting to say. I think he meant that everyone has their moments of imperfection, which Napoleon and Nixon certainly did. The same can be said about homebuilding and any custom homebuilder in Tampa or St. Petersburg that claims otherwise should be questioned.
I always strive for excellence, but unlike an item going down the line of an automated factory, most components of a custom home are built by people and people are not perfect. Again this doesn't mean that you shouldn't expect excellence, but as we often say - it's not a matter of "if" we have a bump in the road, it's a matter of "when" we hit that bump.
At Javic, when we hit that bump in the road, we first discuss the options to overcome it, so we can identify the best solution. Then we discuss these with our customer. Typically these bumps are minor, like lowering the ceiling in a linen closet 6 inches to allow an A/C duct to get to an adjoining room OR moving a toilet a couple of inches so the plumbing can avoid critical roof trusses.
As you set your expectations on your dream custom home, be prepared for your Watergate or Waterloo. Fortunately, a reputable builder will provide you with solutions so you can avoid the same fate as Napoleon or Nixon.
