Your local postal carrier will pick up and delivery more than mail on May 14th, if you live in Denton, Texas. As part of the National Association of Letter Carriers Food Drive, homeowners can leave nonperishable food items in paper or plastic bags near their mailboxes on Saturday, May 14th and the food will be donated to the Denton Community Food Center.

Denton Community Food Center

According to the Denton Record Chronicle, volunteers in 2010 collected and distributed almost 21,000 pounds of food.  This year, the National Assn. of Letter Carriers, volunteers and the United Way of Denton County Texas want to beat the 2010 record of food collection.

To volunteer to help with the event, contact Brooke Moore at the United Way at 940-566-5851, ext. 111, orbrooke@unitedwaydenton.org. To donate directly to Denton Community Food Center, mail a check to P.O. Box 2121, Denton, TX 76202 or call 940-382-0807.
