I am so happy that I volunteered to be a guide/hostes today at the Georgetown Garden Club Tour!
A number of our Bethesda Garden Club members responded to the request to assist during the event at the historical Evermay Estate, and we enjoyed ourselves.
This beautiful, peaceful property built in 1801, located in that heart of Georgtown has so much history! It was all new to most of us volunteers. We shared every little tidbit about the home, garden and history as we learned during the afternoon.
The most common question asked was if the house is available for weddings or other events, since the mansion and grounds are perfect for elegant celebrations. Unfortunately, a few neighbors objected to that use. Therefore, the owner cannot provide that service to the community.
Most visitors did not know that the Estate is presently for sale for $25.9 Million dollars. Having a buyer who can maintain this historic estate without subdividing it, would be an asset to the neighborhood.
If you are in Georgetown next May, do not miss the Georgetown Garden Tour. I certainly will mark my calendar.
