Grand Tetons in Winter What do Abbottabad, Pakistan and Jackson Hole, Wyoming have in common?

A. Home to wealthy second homeowners

B. Beautiful mountain setting with wildlife, wild rivers, and wild nightlife

C. Politically tolerant haven in a conservative stronghold

From the Yahoo News story about Abbottabad:

"Abbottabad is a mountain city of approximately 120,000 people in the northern region of Pakistan. It has a reputation for greater tolerance than many other cities in the conservative northern region—largely because it has been home to many foreigners and outsiders over the years. It is a retirement town known for protecting the privacy of its wealthier inhabitants—the Jackson Hole of Pakistan, to put it in American terms."

Well, they say any press is good press, so I guess I won't complain. But for my money, Jackson Hole is home!

Now there's a comparison I would not have expected to find! I've never been to Abbottabad, but seriously doubt it has Jackson's charm! What a funny Yahoo find!

Jackson Hole gets my vote too! I love the snow capped mountains. That almost looks like a painting instead of a photo---just so perfect! So is this dog I am seeing a black German Shepard? He/she is gorgeous!

Jackson Hole looks very attractive, Abbottabad not so much but neither looks like home to me. Both look foreign to me from my perspective.

I know during all the news coverage I kept thinking and saying how ugly the home and area looked to me.

Hi Judi, I've never been to Pakistan, but I've trekked through Nepal, and those mountains make the Tetons look like foothills! But comparing Abbottabad to Jackson Hole seems like a stretch...

Pat - Yep, that's my 10 year old German Shepherd, Coona. Biggest ears in Jackson, I think.
