This was supposed to be a Mother's Day post, but I guess that will have to wait until tomorrow. Today while attending a Mother's Day tea with my 2 daughters and mom, I met a neighbor. I met the neighbor in a neighborhood 1 1/2 hours away. Brenda Keith, who actually lives minutes from me in Lake Tapps, was the speaker for the Tea held at North Mason Bible church in Belfair, WA. Brenda spoke beautifully about being adopted into the family of God.
After the event, I went up with my daughter to meet her and her daughter. While chatting about living in the Sumner area, and about the church that her husband pastors in the Lake Tapps/Sumner area, New Hope Community Church, I of course told her that I attend a church in Kent. From there I learned that she knew my pastor, having met him on a plane from Uganda. Apparently, as she was flying home from visiting her daughter in Uganda, my pastor and friend Kevin Day was sitting next to her. And on another trip to DC, she was with many people around the US, praying for the government, and met Kevin again. There were a few other connections, neighbors etc. It is a small world.
I guess all that to say, is, you never know who you might meet that could be connected to you on very different levels that span across the country. In this new world of social media, I am finding many of my friends are friends of friends from VA to WA to MI to CA. Facebook, blogging, Twitter, can make this small world even smaller.
