A Satellite Tour of the Phoenix Foreclosure Wasteland

Real Estate Agent with My Home Group SA585717000

I recieved an email with this Satellite Tour of the Phoenix Foreclosure Wasteland from my Father yesterday that had 20 of these Foreclosure Maps from the twenty worst hit markets.  The title of that email is "A Satellite Tour of America's Foreclosure Wastelands," and there are twenty images just like this one.

These maps are very eye opening as to the current aomunt of homes in foreclsoure.  Of the twenty cities on the list Phoenix is # 4 and 9 maps are from Florida, 7 are in California, and Las Vegas is number 1.

If you would like to see all twenty, please leave me a note and I will email them to you if I can find your email address.

Note: The red dots shows homes currently in foreclosure.. The slide title describes the fraction of homes that received foreclosure filings in 2010.

4) Phoenix -- 1 in 14 homes in foreclosure

Hey, Shane – The picture isn’t showing up. It’s because if you look at the properties of the picture (right click on the picture and click on properties), you’ll see that you’re referencing your Google mail, so the only time the picture will show up for us is if you have your Google mail account open. Download the picture from your Google mail account and then upload that picture to ActiveRain.

I think I got it fixed, but I can't seem to get google to do this anymore?  I need to mess around with it somemore and figure out if they moved it or removed it.

Google no longer offers this service, so if you want one of the other top 20 maps let me know.  I can post or email.

Shane, this is an impressive-if very sobering-graphic. Do you feel your market is starting to stabilize at all? Or are prices still going down? How does this relate to your total inventory?

I think there is some stabilization happening, but pricing is still soft.  There is definitely some downward pressure still, but prices have dropped to below construction cost in many places.  This has lead to a substantial Rental owner presence in the under 200K price range helping keep total inventories down.

Not to mention the banks are still holding back on stuff too.

Shane, this map puts things quite a bit more into perspective...we can use statistics like 1 in 14 homes are in foreclosure, but seeing this graphic illustration...it sort of reaches up and smacks you in the face...and as it should.

Yeah, I have twenty of these from mostly CA and Fl.  I wish google wouldn't have discontinued the service, I was going to do some very local, visual representations of the east valley of Phoenix.

Hope you are having a nice weekend.

Shane, I didn't realize Phoenix are was hit so hard with foreclosures. This situation must be very difficult for all these people loosing their homes and for the entire state. Does Arizona government have a plan to deal with this situation?

Thank goodness for Russel.  I tried this any number of times.

But, at any rate, thanks for the update.  I knew you were hard it, but this really drives it home.

Elizabeth, The federal govt's plans obviously aren't all that great.  In AZ there is a large focus on this issue becuase it is so bad.  There are lots of programs, but most are very difficult to get through the process.  Borrowers just need to stay with it if it is worth it for them in their case.

Don, yep.  Wish I could show this monthly over a period of time.  Please bring it back Google.
