I'm Back In Politics... Sort of

By
Education & Training with Although I'm retired, I love sharing my knowledge and learning from other real estate industry professionals.

Late last month I accepted the nomination for, and was elected to, the 2008 Vice Presidency of the North Central Washington Association of Realtors.   The NCWAR serves a wide geographic area including Chelan, Douglas and Okanogan counties.

This assignment was not accepted lightly and without some serious consideration.  This is most likely not a 1 year assignment.  It's more likely a 3 year assignment.  Although it is not set in stone, the natural progression of power (or more appropriately "responsibility") is from Vice President to President-Elect to President (and then into retirement as Past President).

I served on the local Board of Directors many years ago and have even served on the Washington State Association of Realtors Education committee but  have not been involved in the political part of the business for quite a while.  I've enjoyed focusing on, and building, my own business.

However, times are changing rapidly and dramatically in the real estate industry, locally and nationally.   Wenatchee is growing so fast and has received lots national media attention.  We are in the spotlight, so our real estate and land use has become a huge part of the economics in the area.  Perhaps it's time to jump back into the fire, so to speak.  Fortunately, industry politics is NOT party politics.   I hate party politics.

In addition, the way we do business is changing.  Technology is constantly changing and is now an integral factor in our evolving industry.  Yet, as we rely more on technology, we must insist on maintaining the personalized aspect to truly serve the individual needs of our clients.

Anyway, I enjoy blogging and, specifically, about what is happening in our Wenatchee real estate market area.  I will continue to do that but my blogging may take on a slightly more political flavor as well.

Be sure to tell me to mellow out if I get too obnoxious.

In the meantime, have a great day!

Hi Carol - Congratulations on your nomination to server as Vice President of your Association!  It is at least a 3 year commitment, but one that I bet you'll enjoy and will find rewarding.  I know I did when I moved up the positions in my own local association.   It's a great way to give back to your association and the members you'll be serving.

Congratulations!
Ann
