For much of the country, and areas in California, home sales and prices have not risen, however, that is not the case in our beautiful Palm Springs Desert, where home prices and sales are RISING!
According to the local newspaper, which obtains their figures from Data Quick, sales are 23% more than they were a year ago, and prices are slowly beginning to creep upwards as well. This past quarter, we saw a 3.4% gain in prices. Buyers…. what are you waiting for?
In the Coachella Valley, which encompasses the nine cities that form our fabulous desert area, businesses are also seeing economic booms from a year ago. Last week I was filming at the Knott’s Soak City Water Park. They were expecting about 800 guests. They had over 1600 by midday! Hotels are also seeing an increase in business over the past few years. Many events in the area are SOLD OUT ahead of time!
I suppose this would be the appropriate time to thank all our Canadian neighbors who’ve taken advantage of our lower priced homes and condominiums, and their stronger dollar. Their purchases have become a win-win for all. Soon the Palm Springs Desert Area will become known as “little Canada!”
By the way, if you are waiting for summer because you think our prices will be lower, you had better forget that idea. I expect our prices will continue to climb and I anticipate a great selling season, as folks begin to search for their “winter vacation home or retreat!”
