With Paper or Without?

As a 'girl' that could be a horrible situation to be in. I've often thought (especially when hiking) that it would be great to be a guy and not have to worry about the paper or without paper issue.  But...that's not where I'm going today.

Have any of you wonderful, knowledgeable AR members been able to move totally away from paper advertising...you know what I'm talking about, the homes magazines, the newspaper ads and all the print advertising that we've done for umpteen years.

It seems like SUCH a WASTE of time and money but I can't seem to get away from it.  I know sellers expect it.  So, if you've moved totally away from paper, please share with me how you overcome that with your sellers.

Kim - I don't think I've done any paper advertising this year except some postcards that I already had printed for the first few months of the year.

Karin & Connie...when you list a property, do you tell the seller up front that you don't advertise in the print magazines?

Kim, I don't use paper advertising at all.  I tell my sellers in the listing appointment that I do not advertise in homes magazine.  They are okay with it.

Cindy...I need to man up and do the same thing. It really is such a waste of money and time.

I tell them ythe truth and that is "the way to sell a home today is online!" It is actually pretty obvious to them and I have no problems with it!

Ok Joni...I've got a listing appointment tomorrow and that's what I'm going to say. Wish me luck!

When I list, I show them the advertising possibilities. But I spend a lot of time talking about the Internet and where people are looking for information on houses. Most readily admit that they also search on line for the listings. I'm sorry I didn't come back and answere sooner. How did the listing appointment go?

Connie...it actually went pretty well. One of the longest listing appointments I've ever been on...two and a half hours and I walked away without the listing. He is meeting with another agent. I do feel very positive that I'll get the listing. I'll keep you posted!
