Make Hay While The Sun Shines In That Dash Of Your Life

Do StuffIt seems to me we have too many people in life PLAYING around on Facebook and Twitter and watching so many hours of Celebrity Apprentice each month. OK I smile when I say that as we all have our choices of where to spend our time, enjoying ourselves for entertainment, or as others might throw rocks at us and say, we are wasting our time. But truly in our lives we should try as best as possible to

Make Hay While The Sun Shines In That Dash Of Your Life

Live OnceYou know that dash part. You read those obituaries and it is birth date, death date and then that all important DASH between when you arrived and when you depart. YOUR LIFE!!

Uncomfort ZoneOnce again not judging anyone but surely our lives were built for more than being glued to our seats in anticipation of someone at the board table having a finger pointed at them by The Donald and saying, "You're Fired." I sometimes think Europeans look at our sense of silliness in the U.S with some of their real living ways with villages and festivals and such (not that they are perfect either) but we all need to know this time of ours on the planet is finite.

Live life. Live it well

I unfortunately had to listen to a domestic dispute on Mother's day.  My neighbors were fighting (actually he was yelling and cursing at her) because she was late....once again, for wherever it was they were supposed to go.

The reason for her tardiness?  Facebook.  Apparently, she loses track of time while minding everybody elses business on a regular basis.

Sad that a man could address his wife in such a disrespectful manner and sad that they would fight over an ordinary topic such as Facebook.

I wonder how many domestic disputes can be attributed to it?  It would make for an interesting research statistic.

Great post and very inspiring. . . there is a lot of merit to what you are saying. . .is time to reevaluate for me.

I stopped watching the news two years ago and my kids are not watching no more than 5 hours of TV from Monday to Friday. . I want to improve on this.

I can see the difference on my kids already. .. They love to read!

Gary- All work and no play...may make Johnny a dull boy; but all play and no work make Johnny unemployable for sure!   The key is moderation.

Wonderful commenting by everyone. There are points in life for sure about thinking about reinventing your life design and looking at your choices and where you are spending your time like if you are watching too much TV. The point is it is YOUR life, no one else's and be happy with what you are doing with it. It won't last forever that is the point to drive home to yourself.

For the young it seems that you have a lot of time left, but get a little older and it disappears quickly.

The older we get, it seems the shorter our lives become.  Time is a wasting.  As Larry The Cable uy always says, "Get 'er Done!"

Good reflection post....for those that sleep too much...there will be plenty of time for that eventually. For now, catching and holding on to a full day produces a full life and I liked the title of your post. The other day I watched an old black & white movie where they had to get the hay in before the rain storm or the crop would be ruined...That meant having to rely on others for your needs until next years crop. The people in the movie worked until they dropped...and got the hay in. It all made sense and still does...thank you Gary

Hi Gary, it's uncanny to see the title of your post "Make Hay when the sun shines" because I said that just this morning.  In reality, I was happy I got the outside photos of a new listing when the sun was shining and didn't wait until today when it snowed!  Then there is the dash in life that you speak of - another mindset entirely :-)
