75 year man found guilty of Bankruptcy fraud!

Real Estate Broker/Owner with Independent Real Estate Broker DRE#00972295

Scammers and fraudsters come in all shapes and sizes and apparently in all age brackets!

"Bowman -- and co-defendants Irving Cohen and Robin Phillips-- advertised a foreclosure rescue service that promised at-risk homeowners their properties could be saved in exchange for monthly payments of about $1,500" ... "a scheme that used phony bankruptcy filings to stall foreclosures..."

Does age matter?

..."U.S. District Judge Stephen V. Wilson, noting Bowman's age and ill health, sentenced him to four months in a halfway house and four months in home confinement, followed by three years under supervised release" Do you think it's fair that he used the "age card" or "sick card" to get out of jail?

What was the Judge thinking?

Should we be more lenient towards criminals who are ill or old?  Why?  No matter your condition, if you can't do the time, don't do the crime.

Aida - Probably, he wanted to live a luxurious life during retirement years. There so much real estate related fraud that we only hear about a small percentage of it. Thanks for the information.

No, illness or age shouldn't matter. I'm sure he didn't care if the people he was defrauding were sick and/or old. A crime is a crime.
