Stephen and I are enjoying a stay-vacation this week, working on the property and thoroughly enjoying ourselves. He's preparing and planting his vegetable gardens, cleaning & staining deck areas, and doing a little bit of good ole napping! I've been invested in planting our deck (photos to come), and tomorrow I begin work on the front gardens. It's a lot of work and a really great way to vacation, in our opinion.
At 5:00, we decided to run up to the Pen Park Market, because we've never been to that one before. It was great! It's not jammed up and hopping like the Saturday City Market; it was a smaller group of vendors, in a beautiful setting under the trees overlooking the mountains, with parking right at hand. We were too late for the fresh asparagus, but we picked up some wonderful locally-grown mushroom, butternut lettuce, spring onions, and several interesting pepper plants.
Don't get me wrong... we love the Saturday City Market. But, these mid-week markets offer something different. They're less hectic, more intimate, easier in and out to pick up some fresh produce or plants or local art, and keep on moving through your day or home. They're all over town, so you have your pick...
