Special offer

Gifts and Clients

Not so much a blog post as an informal survey.

I tend to give my clients (buyers and sellers) something at or following closing.  Sometimes it is a gift certificate to a restaurant I know they like, sometimes it is something for the home.  But I'm never consistent.  I spend anywhere from $50 to as high as $250.  But this has nothing to do with the transaction amount.  I just figure out something to give them and then give it to them.

But the busier I get the more I am needing something consistent.

What gifts do you offer?  How much do you spend?  Do buyers and sellers get something different?  Do you get both parties (buyers and sellers) a gift regardless of who you represented? (I've heard of some agents who do this).

I like to give them a gift card to a restaurant or maybe a bottle of wine.

We go with a Tazamo (spelled right?) pod coffee machine for our buyers usually or a dinner certificate at a non-franchise restaurant where we can form a relationship with the owner and build a business to business relationship.

I don't necessarily give them a gift at close, but in the week or two following closing I burn a "Lightscribe" DVD or CD with their inspection reports, apprasial, all the docs they signed etc. so that they have a one spot to find it all.
